Aim

The main aim of this is to ensure that the various pieces of work compliment each other in developing a workable alternative vision and policy framework for agrarian reform.

Overall Objective

To develop and promote meaningful strategies for agrarian reform in South Africa that will cover all aspects of land reform and respond to the aspirations of landless people within the real constraints that exist.

Networking and Collaborations

A large part of this work will be implemented in cooperation with other Research Institution such as PLAAS and other recognised Research groupings.

Main Activities

  • Collect, store and disseminate information on land reform and related issues including all the latest policy positions from government
  • Document Nkuzi experiences in key areas of land reform
  • Conduct research projects on land and agrarian issues
  • Publish occasional papers dealing with agrarian reform issues
  • Establish and maintain a web site for Nkuzi with up to date information on Nkuzi activities and agrarian reform debates.
  • Identify key policy issues and draft Nkuzi positions on these based on experiences and positions of communities that Nkuzi works with Submit policy statements to government and other relevant bodies Publish positions in the media
  • Lobby public representatives, officials and political parties
  • Network and organise joint activities with other organisations
  • Support community land struggles and community structures with information on land reform and ideas for policy options
  • Pro-actively update Nkuzi staff and clients on policy developments
